The year 2015 is considered as a tragic year in the history of Nepal as we were hit by massive earthquake followed by uncountable aftershocks over the year. Over 10,000 deaths, thousands of injuries and massive destruction of the infrastructures created tremor everywhere. Right after the earthquake, we were forced to face undeclared economic blockade resulting to the severe shortage of fuel and other daily consumable goods. Life was miserable and difficult but Mission Himalaya and its board of director’s commitment towards serving the people and society was not affected by any of these problems. We were ready to face any challenges and decided to serve people with kind heart and commenced the construction of an “Emergency First Aid community Health Clinic” at Panauti Municipality formally Sankhu VDC, upon the request of the locals.

Mission Himalaya is running this “Emergency First Aid community Health Clinic” very close to our Eco Home. It was constructed in 2015/16 and was inaugurated on 01^st July, 2017. Volunteers in UAE group and Mr. Adrian Hayes funded the construction of the building and Medical Gears and Equipment were funded by Dooley Intermed International, USA.  Mr. Adrian Hayes of MIRA Foundation, Dooley Intermed International and Metabolic Studios are supporting with the operational costs since last two and half years. We are providing absolutely free-of-cost facilities to the needy patients from this clinic. It is particularly advantageous to the elderly people, women and children, as there is no other free government healthcare center nearby.

Our objectives:

Our primary objective is to ensure people’s approach to the basic healthcare facilities. We want to provide absolutely free of cost health checkups and medicines to the peoples. Besides, our primary motive is to provide health facility to our children at the Eco Home also.

Services: General Blood Pressure Checkup, Blood Sugar Checkup, Basic suturing and dressing, Diarrhea, Abscess, Scabies, Tonsilitis, Rhinitis, Tooth ache, Conjunctivitis, Menstrual disorder, Hyper tension, COPD, Gatritis, Head ache, Abdominal pain, Burn and Scald, Dog bite, Cut injuries, Urinary tract infection, Pelvic inflammatory diseases, Vaccination and Family planning services. 

Medicines distributed: Paracetamol, Hyospan, Chlorpheniramine, , Amoxycillin, Antacid, Salbutamol, Ibuprofen, Ranitidine, Doxycycline, Cotrimazole, Ciprofloxacin, Neomycin Ointment, Opthalmic Ointment, Oint benzoic and Salicylic, Paracetamol Syrup, Silver Sulphadiazine Ointment, Clove oil, Vitamin B. Complex,  Albendazole, ORS, Flexon, Multi Vitamins, Azithromycin, Metronidazole and other general antibiotics and medicines.

Current dire requirements for the clinic:

Although we are running this clinic successfully since three years, there are some basic requirements at the clinic as outlined below:

• We do not have a source of water at the clinic and are facing great difficulty in cleaning and sanitation due to the shortage of water. 
• Owing to being in an open area, the clinic is accessible to unwanted visitors who just roam around disturbing the employees unnecessarily and sometimes even damage or litter in our property. The clinic is in desperate need of fencing the compound with a gate for safety and security of the building and property.
• We are not getting any medical support from the local government. We are distributing medicines absolutely free of cost to the patients. It results in the maximum expenditure on medicines which makes it very difficult for us to afford the operational cost. We are also facing the problem for employee’s salary.

Mission Himalaya would like to call upon our friends, supporters and donors to join hands with us and support for the continuous operation of the clinic. It is our one of the most successful community based projects, providing basic health cares services to the local peoples; especially poor, old, women and children who are financially incapable to visit expensive private hospitals for the treatment and are also deprive of getting better medical facilities from Government Hospitals and Health Centers.
