Mission Himalaya is running Dooley-Air Intermed Volunteer program at Eco Home Orphanage since 2016. Every year around 8-10 retired Airline Employees including stewardesses from Airline Ambassadors International participate in this volunteering program on different dates and the number is gradually increasing every year. It is a paid volunteering program organized with the joint cooperation of Dooley Intermed International, Airline Ambassadors International and Mission Himalaya, whose primary objective is to support the children and Eco Home. The volunteers stay at ‘Happy Shepherd Cottage’ volunteer house for a week and perform numbers of social and child related activities at Eco home and the nearby villages. Our children get opportunity to learn new things from these well experienced elderly volunteers. They give knowledge about their country, culture, tradition, languages, experiences in life, ways of life and also teach etiquette, moral values and discipline to the children. They help our children in academics, extra-curricular activities; provide training on hospitality, first aid and sanitation. Volunteers also visit children’s school and monitor their teaching learning practices, behavior and school’s environment and provide us feed backs that assist us to improve our children’s educational performance. Sometimes they also sponsor for children’s outing, clothes and shoes, kitchen accessories, and other basic requirements of the home. Besides, our children also get sponsored for their education that financially support us.

They are also organizing pen pal letter program with the children that help them learn to make friends, share their stuffs, experiences and broaden their knowledge about different types of peoples, places and their ways of life. The volunteer program also includes community based social works in  Eco Home locality. Our volunteers visit local government schools and teach students about human trafficking, provides training on; personal health and hygiene, first aid, sanitation and emergency treatment. They also distribute stationery, books and clothes to the needy students of government schools. They visit to community health clinic and train health care workers about first aid and emergency treatment. Dooley Air-Intermed Volunteer Program is very useful and essential for our Eco Home and children in multiple aspects. It is one of our major fund-raising community based programs and we wish it’s long run operation in the future.
