So what is happening at Eco Home during this Quarantine? Well, the school is closed with ongoing lockdown due to governmental decree. Two of the Eco Home’s workers- Rita and Kalpana are staying home while others (Saraswati-Warden, Anjan-In charge/Tutor, and Raj Kumar-Field Caretaker) continue to take care of the children without any physical contact with anyone outside of the walls. Anjan has divided the children into 4 groups of 4 senior children each responsible for the daily routine of cooking, teaching, sanitation, field works and other assignments as per the specified time schedule. He has also started class of new academic session to keep them habitual with their studies. Besides, he organizes different extracurricular activities and makes children’s compulsory participation in these programs. Programs like Debate, Quiz, Art, Dance, Spelling Contest, Storytelling and Sports meet are organized to keep them engaged. They are making the good use of Library and Computer Labs in this lockdown as they have enough time to read and practice. They love to watch Television and play different games during their free time. Saraswati is taking overall charge of the home and also monitors the personal hygiene of the children and cleanliness within the compound. Raj Kumar is the man looking after our field, producing fresh organic green vegetables for the consumption at the home. The beautiful part of this lockdown is our children are learning farming from him.
Here is the short video of children’s different activities during lockdown days.
